Founded with the principal that consumer choice is a good thing, New Option Realty decided to implement a different model than most real estate agencies. The internet has changed how consumers buy or sell their homes, and we believe the role of real estate agents needs to change as well. On the buying side, consumers nowadays can use a multitude of websites (ours is great!) to search for homes, view pictures, get email alerts, and examine the neighborhoods. However they often need a real estate agent to allow them access to tour the properties, or they may want help writing up and negotiating offers. This work by the consumers lessens the amount of work real estate agents perform, but oddly the commissions real estate agents receive have not gone down! The commission structures still average 3% for the buyer's agent and 3% for the seller's agent; the same as it has been for over 30 years!!! As the real estate business changes, the business of doing real estate must changes as well. We want to be YOUR NEW OPTION when buying or selling your next home!

What is standard in most other industries is uncommon with real estate agencies: When you want us to work, we do. When you want to do things yourself, we let you. We believe that real estate services should be regarded like other professional services: We get paid when we perform certain services to you, not based on the sales price of the property you are selling or purchasing. The commission model in real estate has created many conflict of interest issues. It also represents a system of unequal cost allocations - the higher the price of the property, the more it costs the seller/buyer. And it should not be that way! Therefore at New Option Realty, we will provide you the services you want us to, and let you save on the ones you can do yourself!
